Down at the Field

Hi folks! Spring is quickly approaching and that means it’s time to fly!  This weekend won’t be excellent but it should be nice. Check the weather widget to the left.   I was out with Ollie on Sunday and I was out again on Wednesday and the field is constantly improving after the massive rains.  A week ago the right half of the field was a lake and we could have held a float plane fun fly there but now the waters have receded and the moisture is slowly wicking out of the ground.  The field was fairly damp on Wednesday but better than Sunday so if you go out park closer to the club house and not out on the edge of the field.

I took a quick and dirt panoramic of the field as you can see below if you click on it you’ll see a bigger version. Since it’s a quick and dirty panorama the seams are rough and the colors don’t blend well between the frames, but it will give you a good idea of the condition of our beautiful field.

If you want a larger version of the picture, right click on this link ‘Sawyer R/C Flyers End of Winter Field‘ and click ‘Save as’ and save it to your computer to look at. I’ll try to take more of these throughout the seasons.

I went out to try out the Beast UMX plane and it was a lot of fun, but it was also pretty windy which was a challenge. I tried it on Sunday with Ollie and I was flying -backwards- in the little biplane. When I went back out on Wednesday it was quite a bit better but the gusts still got me.   Here are some of the videos of those flights.
