I took the weather station home last week and did some work on it over the week. Thanks to some newer hardware drivers related to the cellular modem and a few other tweaks I’ve made the system is much more stable.
The system shuts itself down when the battery gets low to prevent from over-discharging and damaging the battery. During periods of low daylight (dark overcast days and at night) the charge rate is lower than the power consumed by the station. Station data may be intermittent as the battery slowly charges, turns the system on at around 30% charge, sends out some weather stats and then shuts back down as the battery drops back below 10%. Thus is the life of solar powered equipment in the north east. -JonC
